General John Wilkinson
John L. Wilkinson is a retired Air Force Brigadier General and also retired from the Senior Executive Service at the U.S. Agency for International Development. He most recently has served as an advisor and project manager for Remote Medical International. Prior to this he served as the Executive Vice President of Onsite Occupational Health and Safety, the largest private sector medical services provider in Afghanistan, providing services to over 100,000 contractors working for nine U.S. Government contractor companies; he also served on Onsite’s Board of Advisors.
He is also the founder and President of AccessUS LLC, a consulting company that assists U.S. and foreign companies in accessing and developing new markets, sources of finance, and in teaming with established market leaders.
Upon his retirement from the Air Force and the U.S. Agency for International Development, Mr. Wilkinson joined RONCO Consulting Corporation in October 2001, and served as President between July 2008 and December 2009 driving annual revenues from $32 million to over $130 million, and expanded its services from demining and explosive ordnance disposal to include provision of security services, post-conflict operations, and specialized training services overseas, as well as range remediation services in the U.S Following his departure from RONCO, Mr. Wilkinson assisted in establishing and became President of Exploration Logistics, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Exploration Logistics Group PLC (UK).
Mr. Wilkinson retired from the U.S. Government’s Senior Executive Service (SES-5) in 2001, having spent 23 years developing, implementing and managing U.S. Agency for International Development programs overseas. Mr. Wilkinson was twice awarded the Agency for International Development’s Superior Honor Award and is the recipient of the Administrator’s Award for Distinguished Career Service.
A Brigadier General (retired), he served 34 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve. His military service included operational units, major command headquarters, national level agencies and organizations and Headquarters, Air Force. In his last assignment, General Wilkinson served as the senior Reserve intelligence officer in the Air Force, overseeing operations by 16,000 Air Force active duty, Reserve and civilian personnel worldwide. General Wilkinson holds 23 awards and decorations, including the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and the Joint and Air Force Commendation Medals. He is also the recipient of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Director’s Medal for service to the National Intelligence Community, and the U.S. Air Force Intelligence Reserves’ General Charles P. Cabell Award for significant lifetime contributions to the program.
A graduate of Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, he also holds a Master’s in International Affairs from Florida State University and a Master’s in Economics from the George Washington University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force’s Squadron Officers School, Command and Staff School, and Air War College; the Defense Intelligence School; and the Department of Defense’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
